Dear Child O' Mine

Notes & Letters to My Child… Which Will One Day Embarass Him

Lil’ Pooper

So here we are starting your second year and it already feels like another year has passed in a month. You have been more active lately then normal and very much a smart alec. I thought the talking back wasn’t suppose to start until you became a teenager but alas it has already started. You are definitely learning your “yes” and “no” but not overly so just yet. You just respond when asked a question like “did you poop?” and I pretty sure this is the only question you really know.

BTW, you like Star Trek.

Almost Here!!!

It has been awhile since I wrote anything… been a tough few weeks. You had your first bout of stomach flu and it hit all of us at home. Sadly you handled it much better then your father and I. And you were both better then me.

But in another week we will be celebrating your 1st birthday and it makes me cry whenever I think about it. This has been the most stressful and yet amazing year of my life and that includes when I fell in love with your father and then we conceived you. So many people in your family are coming out for your birthday and while we won’t be having the party until the weekend – its going to be a blast. You will finally get to meet your cousins again.

I love you so much my baby boy!!

BTW, any idea where you put my student id?

And you like…

PEANUT BUTTER!!!  We have eaten some plain, natural peanut butter the last three days for lunch and you really like it. Two times it was spread on some bread and cut into really tiny bits. And once I mixed a scoop of it in with vanilla yogurt with berry juice and you really loved that. But we are on several days of letting you feed yourself and you are doing great. As soon as you see me go to the high chair you come running. I even enjoy that I can give you food and then clean the kitchen in the mornings and get the day started and eat myself without chasing you round the house.

You are getting so big!!! And in a month you will be turning one. Now we are planning your birthday party and we have so many people coming in for it. I hope you have a great time! I love you so much!!!

Fussy Eater….

you are not wanting to eat much lately. i looked up reasons online on why and they say it’s because you want to feed yourself but you aren’t eating that way either. i personally think its your new tooth but we shall try some other foods and see. maybe the Cheerios are too hard?

but you did eat part of my keyboard….

#6

You are getting your 6th tooth today… it came with a high fever last night of 101. At least we think that is what caused it and I hope. We also had our first near disaster with the house when the empty house next to ours caught fire. You did very well and were fascinated by the lights on all the trucks and all the people that came around. Our other neighbor invited us in and your got to play with their little girls and had a wonderful time. I am getting ready to back up your photos on CD-ROMs because if our neighborhood hadn’t been on the ball then we could have lost our home as well. Instead we have a house that smells a bit like smoke and part of our fence has been pulled down by the firemen. But like I said you were wonderful especially since you have a bit of a cold right now and had not been feeling well all day.

Love you my little brave boy!

Climbing? Already?

Dear Child…

I know you were super excited to take your first steps just a few days before you turned 9 months… we aren’t even out a month and you are all over the place. Moving pieces of clothing over here, placing your toys in different areas of the basement, running to me when I leave the room to be picked up and held. But tonight, tonight you worked even harder then you have in the past two evenings to climb onto the couch. And you did it with very little help from me or daddy this time. Repeatedly. And I love it. How you grabbed your daddy’s pj bottoms or my hand to pull yourself up. Unfortunately, while you have been attempting to climb up the back of the couch I really did not think that after climbing on the couch alone that you would turn the back of our couch into a Rock Wall.  And so quickly. You got up on the couch, stood and then proceeded in only your diaper to make your way to the top of the couch. You aren’t even 10 months yet… and we are so not ready for you to be this good of a climber. Especially since you are super unbalanced at the moment from attempting to move faster than your little legs can actually move. I will be there though, waiting patiently just incase you fall. Please remember that… always. Be it when you fall off the couch, the bed, or just tripping over your own feet. I may not catch you every time but I will always help you back up and to hold you until you are ready to try again.

But seriously, can we wait a little bit longer before you climb the gate on the stairs? Or the bookshelves?

Love,

Mommy
